Building Information Modelling with Project Management- Level 6

Apply for this course here.

Applications are now open for this FREE Springboard course in Building Information Modelling with Project Management at LEVEL 6.

This part-time Springbioard course in Building Information Modelling (BIM) prepares participants to be job ready for using BIM in a wide range of roles in the construction industry, including Architecture, Architectural Technology, BIM Technician, Building Surveyor, Facilities Manager, Project Manager and various construction team roles.
BIM is a new approach to Computer Aided Design that is revolutionising how buildings are planned, designed and built. BIM users create intelligent 3D building models, achieving greater productivity, speed of delivery and reduced costs than older CAD systems.
There is an increasing requirement for BIM skills in the construction sector. More and more buildings are being designed using BIM. BIM skills are becoming sought after in advertised jobs, either as a prerequisite, or to give applicants a competitive advantage.
Participants in this Springboard course will gain hands-on training in using AutoDesk REVIT, the industry-leading BIM software in Ireland and the UK. The course will also cover contemporary multi-storey construction and they will gain experience in applying BIM to a building project. They will apply their learnings from the course in a twelve week work placement in the building industry. At the conclusion of their Springboard course they will attend practical workshops in CV preparation, interview techniques and job seeking, to help maximise their post-course employability and support them in their transition to permanent employment.
All the course teaching will be carried out by qualified Architects, Architectural Technologists and BIM experts, with a small class size for individual attention. The course content has been derived from consultation with industry bodies, including the CIF and CIAT, as well a range of architectural and engineering firms, to ensure relevance to the needs of the current construction industry. Coláiste Dhúlaigh is also partnering with a range of firms to deliver high quality work placement opportunities.
The BIM Springboard course comprises 4 modules from the BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) in Construction and the Built Environment:
- Computer Aided Design for Construction (professional-level BIM training using Autodesk REVIT)
- Technology of Complex Buildings (construction and layout of multi-storey buildings)
- Work Based Learning & Assessment in Construction & the Built Environment (12-week work placement using REVIT)
- Project Design, Implementation & Evaluation (a building project to apply & practice the skills being developed)
This Springboard course is suitable for applicants with previous employment experience in the construction sector and/or a prior Level 5 or higher qualification, which includes modules related to the construction sector (e.g. Architecture, Architectural Technology, Renewable Energy Assessment, Structural Engineering or related fields). Entrants from Leaving Cert level will be considered with a full leaving cert to include a minimum C1 on higher level Construction Studies. Candidates will be considered for suitability on the basis of prior qualifications, work experience portfolio and interview.
