Theatre Performance QQI Award (Level 5)

Performing Arts Higher National Diploma, BA (Hons)

These Theatre courses are designed to allow students to acquire skills and master personal acting techniques, professional skills and develop the academic background required for further studies or work in the theatre; television or film. Please note; both courses, Theatre Performance (Fetac Level 5) and Performing Arts (Higher National Diploma) are separate and distinct courses. Applicants will undergo a separate interview requiring relevant appropriate criteria.

Course Content

- CERTIFICATE IN THEATRE PERFORMANCE QQI (Level5)

Acting Skills, Jazz Dance, Communications, Theatrical Make-Up, Music Performance, Performance Craft Production Design for Theatre, Work Experience,Theatre Studies

- PERFORMING ARTS (HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA in Performing Arts, 120 ECTS Credits)

Year 1

Creative Arts Professional Practice, Development of Acting Skills, Devising Performance, Make-up for Performance, Naturalistic Actiing, Stage Management in Practice, Voice and Speech Development and Practice, Writing for Theatre.

Year 2

Alternative Approaches to Acting, Creative Arts Research Skills, Innovative Theatre, Preparation Process and Productio in the Creative Arts, Popular Entertainment, Theatre Directing, Vocal Method in Context, Wardrobe Management, Work Based Experience.

Theatre Course - CDCFE

Certification

QQI Level 5 in Theatre Performance.

Higher National Diploma in Performing Arts.

Hons. L.A.M.D.A.

Duration

QQI Level 5 - 1 year,
Higher National Diploma - 2 years,
BA Hons. (optional)

Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate (including LCA). Appropriate approved prior learning (APL), Interview and audition required for both courses. Mature students welcome.

Career Opportunities

Graduates pursue employment in many areas of theatre/film and television industries. Progression to top up degree or MA in both UK and Irish Colleges.
