Theatre Performance QQI Award (Level 5)

Performing Arts Higher National Diploma, BA (Hons)

These Theatre courses are designed to allow students to acquire skills and master personal acting techniques, professional skills and develop the academic background required for further studies or work in the theatre; television or film. Please note; both courses, Theatre Performance (Fetac Level 5) and Performing Arts (Higher National Diploma) are separate and distinct courses. Applicants will undergo a separate interview requiring relevant appropriate criteria.

Course Content

- CERTIFICATE IN THEATRE PERFORMANCE QQI (Level5)

Acting, Drama, Voice, Movement, Acting Skills, Theatre Studies, Performance Craft, Dance, Music, Technical Skills for Theatre.

- PERFORMING ARTS (HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA)

Year 1

Students are offered a wide range of choices covering both Performance and Production; Naturalistic Acting, Devising for Performance, Outreach Drama, Voice and Speech Development, Scenic Design Concept, Work Base Experience, Creative Arts Research Skills, Music and Contemporary Dance.

Year 2

Theatre Directing, Development of Acting Skills, Innovative Theatre, Stage Combat, Classical Acting, Lighting Operation, Employability Skills, Voice and Speech Development (2), Musical Performance, Alternative Approaches to Acting and Costume.

Theatre Course - CDCFE

Certification

QQI Level 5 in Theatre Performance.

Higher National Diploma in Performing Arts.

Hons. L.A.M.D.A.

Duration

QQI Level 5 - 1 year,
Higher National Diploma - 2 years,
BA Hons. (optional)

Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate (including LCA). Appropriate approved prior learning (APL), Interview and audition required for both courses. Mature students welcome.

Career Opportunities

Graduates pursue employment in many areas of theatre/film and television industries. Progression to top up degree or MA in both UK and Irish Colleges.
