Tour Guiding (BTEI/Skills to Compete)

 

QQI Level 6 Special Purpose Award (6S20232)

BTEI means Back to Education Initiative. BTEI gives unemployed adults the opportunity of returning to part time education, while retaining their benefit.
Skills to Compete is an initiative to support those who have lost their jobs as a result of COVID-19 and wish to re-enter the workforce. See here for details.

The BTEI (Back to Education) / Skills to Compete National Tour Guide QQI Level 6 Special Purpose course– gives individuals access to further education and training delivered through Coláiste Dhúlaigh College of Further Education (CDCFE).

The National Tour Guide 12-week course at CDCFE is tailored to provide you with the skills, knowledge and competencies to deliver and manage a comprehensive tour management and guiding service for tourists visiting and travelling in Ireland.

 

Course Content*

The National Tour Guide course is relevant, practical and responsive to industry needs.

There are three modules:

  1. Irish Tour Guiding,
  2. Irish Natural Heritage & Culture
  3. National Tour Management

We also offer IT Skills Support as part of the course.

Certification

QQI Level 6 Special Purpose award in National Tour Guiding (6S20232) and will automatically qualify for the Fáilte Ireland National Tour Guide Badge.

Course Duration

Starts in Autumn. 12 weeks part time course over 3 days per week

Course Charges

Tour Guide BTEI Course Level 6 – Free for applicants eligible for BTEI or Skills to Compete, fees will apply otherwise.

Entry Requirements

All BTEI applicants must be in receipt of or a dependent of a Social Protection payment before starting the course. Participants on CE schemes or TUS may apply also.
