Advanced Certificate in Art & Design QQI Level 6 (6M4029) – 1 Year


This is a one-year full-time Advanced Certificate in Art course which offers an opportunity for mature students who are interested in developing their own art practices further.  This is a practical and enjoyable course with a broad and engaging combination of modules. It takes place in our Raheny campus.

Regular outings to Galleries, Art Exhibitions and Field trips, working on location in various places are an integral part of the course.

At the end of this course, you will have begun to establish a personal direction in your art practice.  You can then decide to continue to work as an independent artist or to progress to higher education to pursue a fine arts degree.

Entry requirements

QQI level 5 or equivalent award in Art and Design/ photography/craft, graphic design/ illustration or other related qualifications. Mature and postgraduate students are encouraged to apply.

All QQI level 6 applicants will be required to meet with the course team, and present a small sample of creative work – for example: drawings, sculpture, ceramics, collage, 3D work, technical drawing, poster design, photography etc. – to ensure this course is a good fit.

You will be notified in advance with a date and time to meet with the course team. This meeting will be held on our Raheny Campus.


Students who successfully complete the QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Art Award are eligible to apply for advanced entry to the second year of many third level colleges including:

NCAD, TU Dublin, IADT, and MTU Cork.

Course Charges


Applicants in receipt of a Social Welfare payment will keep their payment whilst studying on the course under the Back to Education Allowance scheme.
