IT Technician is a full time course which runs for a duration of one year. Learners will gain a solid understanding of information technology as they complete a full award at QQI Level 5. This course will help the learner to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to provide administration services and support in a range of office information processing contexts . This course will also introduce the learner to computer programming and the skills necessary to implement and support PC systems and networks. Successful graduates of the course can look forward to a rewarding and challenging career in this rapidly expanding field.
This course is endorsed by FIT and has been designed to prepare students for the technology apprenticeship courses delivered by FIT (for technology based aptitude tests, industry visits, interviews, curriculum vitae etc.).
The learner will explore Information Processing with a view to re-skilling/up-skilling and exploring concepts and subject areas that may stimulate the interest of the learner in future programmes or employment and to offer the learner the opportunity to develop creative and problem solving skills.
Networking Essentials, Programming & Design Principles, Database Methods, Information and Communication Systems, Spreadsheet Methods, The Internet, Web Authoring, Communications and Work Experience.
All individuals who present for this course must be over 21 years of age and in receipt of a social welfare payment for a minimum of six months. All potential candidates must be interviewed and have a keen interest in IT.
