Advanced Certificate in Art & Design QQI Level 6 (6M4029) – 1 Year

This is a one-year full-time Art course which offers an opportunity for mature students interested in developing their own art practices further.  A practical and enjoyable course with a broad and engaging combination of modules: painting, drawing, creative ceramics, printmaking, image processing and Art appreciation Studies.

Regular outings to Galleries, Art Exhibitions and Field trips, working on location in various places are an integral part of the course.

At the end of this course, you will have begun to establish a personal direction in your art practice.  You can then decide to continue to work as an independent artist or to progress to higher education to pursue a fine arts degree.

Entry requirements

QQI level 5 award in Art and Design/ photography/craft, graphic design/ illustration or other related qualifications, mature and postgraduate students are encouraged to apply.

All level 6 applicants will be required to meet with the course team, and  present a small sample of creative work – for example: drawings, sculpture, ceramics, collage, 3D work, technical drawing, poster design, photography etc. – to ensure this course is a good fit.

You will be notified in advance with a date and time to meet with the course team. This meeting will be held on our Raheny Campus.

Progression

Students who successfully complete the QQI Level 6 Art Award are eligible to apply for advanced entry to the second year of many third level colleges including:

NCAD, TU Dublin, IADT, and MTU Cork.
